This program has been developed for senior students looking to understand the horticulture industry with a view to working in the sector.
Introduction:
This training program combines classroom learning with structured hands-on practice in industry. The aims of the program are to provide students with the knowledge and skills to achieve competencies that will enhance their employment prospects in the horticulture industry and make a more informed choice regarding further education and career paths.
Target Audience:
This program develops the skills and knowledge for supporting job roles in the fresh produce horticulture industry including field worker, picker, and packer. Our online vocational horticultural courses offer you the chance to learn about the horticulture industry with no prior knowledge required.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify optional management approaches for horticulture farms.
- Determine varying features of optional management approaches for horticulture sites.
- Explain planning concepts and processes used for provision of land.
- Identify and describe up to date information sources relating to changing influences on the fresh produce industry.
- Explain current social environmental issues as they evolve in a changing political climate, for example community involvement, sustainability, public/private partnerships.
- Describe Methods of community involvement from user surveys and consultation exercises through to physical involvement using volunteer groups.
